How to make a bar graph
- Paste your table: first column = categories, each extra column = a series (e.g. Monday, Friday).
- Add a title and axis labels under “Labels & options”.
- Choose vertical or horizontal bars, and side-by-side (double bar graph), stacked, or 100% stacked.
- Sort largest-first if order doesn’t matter, then download PNG or SVG.

Bar graph or bar chart?
They’re the same thing. “Bar graph” is more common in schools, “bar chart” in business. Either way, bars compare amounts across separate categories — drinks sold, votes per candidate, revenue by region. If your categories are ranges of one continuous number (ages 20–29, 30–39…), you want a histogram instead; see histogram vs bar graph.
Which bar layout to pick

The one rule: start at zero
A bar’s length is the value, so the axis must begin at zero. Cut the axis and a 5% difference can look like a 300% one — try it in the explainer. This tool always starts bars at zero.
Questions
How do I make a double bar graph?
Add a second value column. For example: “Drink, Monday, Friday” as the header, then one row per drink. Keep “Side by side” selected and each category gets two bars with a legend.
How do I make a stacked bar chart?
Enter two or more value columns, open “Labels & options” and choose Stacked. Choose 100% to show each bar as shares that add to 100%.
Can I make a horizontal bar graph?
Yes — choose Horizontal under Direction. It’s the better option when category names are long.
Can bars show negative values?
Yes. Negative values are drawn below (or left of) the zero line.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. The chart is drawn in your browser and your data is saved only in your browser’s local storage so it’s there when you come back. It leaves your device only if you click an AI button.
